Everything I love, I will devour.

I drink too much, I fall in love too fast, and I talk a lot of shit about Broadway actors.

So I log into tumblr to post something to pro-life revolution and this is what greets me in my ask box (next to one message of encouragement). You guys have to understand why I’m not coming back.

Anonymous asked: I'm afraid of atheists. They just seem evil to me. How can someone not believe in God?

Well, I can tell you that they’re not evil. It’s always tricky to try to ascribe characteristics to large groups of people. Are there “evil” individuals who are atheists? Yes. But that is true of Christians as well. So I would avoid that generalization.

As for how someone can not believe in God… I can’t tell you. I think most of the time, they are just lost. They are ignoring God’s cry to them. In Psalm 95, it says, “If today you hear His voice, harden not your hearts.” This is what people who turn from God have done - they’ve hardened their hearts. A really awesome guy at my home parish once told me that every time you hear that call and turn away, you’re hardening your heart even more; you’re making the light inside you even less bright… and it makes it even harder to eventually come to Christ when you’ve strayed that far away from Him. So I would treat people who don’t believe in God with love and compassion. You never know what has made them harden their hearts and turn from God. As my favorite quote says, “Be kind; for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.”

God bless you!

Anonymous asked: Do you watch Blue Bloods? :P

I don’t! But my grandparents do and every time I speak to my grandpa he’s like, “I tell you what, that Blue Bloods. That’s a good show. Good American show. Good Catholics.” and then my grandma will chime in, “At the end of every episode, they all sit down to supper and say grace! You never see that on television any more!”

It’s the cutest thing. I don’t know if their descriptions are at all correct but they do love that show.

Anonymous asked: Is it true you were raped?

“Is it true?” What a terrible way to phrase that question…

Yes.

Anonymous asked: Hi! I've always been pro-life, but I recently read something that made me passionate about taking a stance against abortion. I read an article about a woman who terminated her pregnancy because her child would've been physically disabled. I'm disabled myself, so I found that infuriating. It highly devalues the life of anyone with a disability and basically claims that they are burdens on society. How do you feel about this issue & do you know of any articles related to abortion & disability?

Hi there! I’m SO happy you’re getting more passionate about being pro-life. Interestingly enough, aborting fetuses with disabilities is one of the major reason I became pro-life. It’s a sad fact that 90% of those diagnosed with down syndrome or spina bifida or a similar disorder never get the chance to be born.

I have a few articles about the terrible things they do to born-alive babies with down syndrome. Here’s a great resource about that. This is especially important now with Obama being such an opponent of the Born-Alive Infant Protection Act. I would say that’s a major issue facing us pro-lifers in regards to downs babies. If you’d like more resources just let me know!

FWIW, my degree is in Political Science and in studying 20 Century politics, you see that the modern abortion movement is steeped in eugenics; one of the primary reasons being aborting disabled people. It’s absolutely sickening.

Anonymous asked: Thoughts on sleeping, literally sleeping--cuddling under the covers for the night, with one's SO?

I think it all depends on the people and the situation. I don’t see anything wrong with it, unless it tempts you to sexual sin. I know, for me, there are times I can sleep with boyfriends and feel no temptation and then there are times when simply brushing hands with my boyfriend will set me off. So, like I said, it depends on the situation and what you know your personal temptation is.

I know that I probably couldn’t not cuddle with someone until marriage. I’m one of those softies who loves the intimacy that comes with that. I cuddle with pretty much (shoutout to all my irl friends :P) everyone so I don’t see anything wrong with it.

[I wrote out a big long things for this the other day but tumblr ate it so this is my condensed recollection of what I said - there’s more on ThePapists, we got a question like this a few weeks ago if you don’t mind scrolling back that far]

Anonymous asked: Hello, I was just curious does your uni have a Catholic campus ministry, and if so are you involved with it? Thanks!

We do! We’re a Catholic uni so it only makes sense haaha. I am a Student Leader for Music Ministry, I’m in Students for Life (gunning for president next year), have been on several service experiences in new jersey and lourdes, france, and I’m in the Catholic Student Community so we do lots of fun stuff… That’s all I can think of now, but, yeah, that’s a majority of what I do at school.

Anonymous asked: why did god make retarded people? they get a free pass to sin and its ok because they "don't know any better"

God didn’t “make” retarded people. All disorders and illnesses like that are the product of a fallen world.

However, all people are given time to grow and develop before they reach the age of reason. In the case of people who are mentally retarded, they generally don’t reach a “mental age” past the age of reason. So it’s not that they get a “free pass,” they just never reach the (mental) age of reason.
